The South Mecklenburg High School Bands are comprised of a variety of groups and are designed to provide a diverse education to meet the needs of our young musicians at their levels of skill and interest.   This is accomplished through class curriculums as well as after school opportunities like Marching Band.   Each band performs at concerts and other events and may participate in competitions throughout the year.

Ensemble opportunities include the following::

• Concert Band, bridging the gap between the 8th grade ensembles and high school band
• Symphonic Band, serving the more advanced musicians
• Wind Symphony, providing growth for students continuing their education in music
• Jazz Band
• Marching Sabres, teaching musicians additional skills in teamwork, discipline and control
• Pep Band
• Percussion Ensemble
• Fall and Winter Guard, performing precision flag and weapons work

Our staff are comprised of professional musicians, instructors and coaches as well as community and alumni volunteers.  
Our boosters are made up of band parents and family who are necessary to make this program a success.  
We are honored to be supported financially and through donations by many businesses and families in our community.   Without the aid of these sponsors, this program would not be the success that it is today.
